This week has been very interesting at work. It has been challenging in terms of our progress on an ongoing assignment but it’s been fun for a whole different reason as well. My team of seven members including our supervisor Shari have all moved into a conference room. We all sit in a U shape facing each other and even have a snack table going for us with muffins, popcorn, chocolates and fruit snacks and all sorts of small nick knacks. Shari has external speakers so she hooks them up to her laptop and plays music throughout the day when she is in the room.
Overall, it’s a fun set up having everyone in the team all together. There’s always some chat going on about someone’s experience with work or family or just gossip! There’s laughter, music, food and fun along with meetings and work. It makes the day go by faster somehow, at least for me. We are using agile methods like daily stand ups and constant collaboration for living our IT Strategy key results at Ford – vibrant workplace, customer centricity and delivering value @ market speed. I had to throw that bit in! J
So far, its been working out great and I hope it continues to be this way. It reminds me of my internship in 2015 when my team sat in one big conference room and we would always have fun and work together at the same time. Best part was the constant collaboration. I needed that in the internship because I was constantly learning so having Kathy E and Robert next to me was extremely beneficial. In this team, I don’t need the constant help but its fun to have the support and especially Kathy P being so caring and pleasant all around, makes staying at work fun.
